I'm stealing my own blog title!!
My friend had a birthday and so I knitted him an appropriately Gold Dalek.
The pattern is ExtermiKnit (it's a Ravelry link)
It was reasonably easy and very Daleky. I can recommend it.
Along the same lines I've knitted a Dalek face cloth for a swap. The green doesn't photograph very well. It is Exfoliate (Ravelry link)

And then there is the TARDIShcloth!!! (Ravelry link too)

Finally I have something I can post here!!! I knitted a Doctor Who logo felted bag for my friend MrsDrWho. I charted the logo pattern and then knitted in in a mix of reds, oranges and yellows. The lighter colours didn't felt as well as the 12ply Rustic did. I sewed the bottom corners like I do to make a rectangular base on a sewn bag and it has i-cord handles and edging!! I desperately want one for myself. I think I'll have a green tweed one with a TARDIS and/or K9. I also sewed her a little quilt with some Daleks embroidered on it!!! Thanks Vinny for the Dalek cutter swap, I used it as the template!!!

I'm desperately trying to quash the geek, (me, hee hee) who's getting well excited! :-)

Farscape and Afghans

I'm in between projects, I have a list of three items I said id make people that ive been putting off because I want to make myself something, only I cant decide what I want. While I was faffing indecisively, my fingers twitching from the need to knit, my copy of Barbara Walker's Learn to Knit Afghan Book arrived in the post, so Im using up various odd balls and half balls of yarn to do these afghan squares. Im using dk yarn and 4mm needles rather than the suggested worsted weight, simply cos I have so much odd balls of dk weight stuff lying around and I want to use that rather than wait until i can afford new yarn. I started a week ago, i've done 9 and am working on number 10 (of 63), i've been knitting them late at night while the kids sleep, watching old episodes of Farscape. We've done seasons 1 and 2 and are starting out on season 3 tonight. The climactic episode of season 2 was a total heartbreaker.

I had a quick google for Farscape related patterns and charts but found nada. Do you know of any?

My sister and I are trying to collect items for a pregnant girl we know. She's got no family support OR help from the child's father, and NOTHING for this baby.

Yum - Dalek Cookies!!!

Today while I knitted and watched Season 2 (and isnt David Tennant cute?) my beautiful daughter cooked us up some Dalek shaped cookies :)

Heres a pic (pre baking) to make you all jealous.

This was a cookie kit from Greens we found in Tesco, I think. I encourage other UK Dr Who fans to pick one up while theyre available! If any of you in the US wants one but cant find it - Id be happy to send you one over in a swap for some Kool Aid for yarn dyeing.. The kit just has a standard cookie mix, some puffed rice, and some orange icing, but the single most important thing - a dalek cookie cutter. Its plastic but it seems pretty sturdy.

Miyazaki-inspired felted toys

One of the patterns in the new Knitty is a set of toys inspired by Miyazaki characters.

These remind me very much of the Kodama in Princess Mononoke. I crafted some Kodama bags last year, theyre so cute and odd at the same time.

Its a simple pattern and the creatures look so sweet, I reckon I'll be knitting some up for christmas presents :)

We get a lot of visits from people looking for patterns and I think we could really become the best resource for finding all the SF related knitting and crochet patterns out there. Im going to tidy up the current lists but I'd like to also remind you all to please post about any you come across!

Also - look out for the new series coming up, there's a couple Ive been lucky enough to have watched the first episodes of that look very promising, including the new Bionic Woman, airing in the US from September 26th and starring Michelle Ryan from Eastenders (Kaaat! Youre not my muvvaaa!!), and the Sarah Connor Chronicles, due next year and starring Brit actor Lena Headey as SC herself and Summer Glau in another kickass role. (I also saw the first episode of Flash Gordon but it was terrible, avoid!)

Here's looking forward to all of these (apart from FG..) plus new seasons of Lost (next Spring) , Heroes (airing in the US from September 24th) and Doctor Who (the Christmas episode then next Spring for the series).

The BF is away with work at the moment, so I wanted a project that would make me think a little and not miss him so much. With all this lovely wather, I fancied a little bolero that would take the chill off the evenings and would slip on over sleeveless tops. I love Short'n'Sweet from the Happy Hooker - it's the sort of bohemian look that Inara favours, and the leaf motif kinda reminds me of the Elven woodfolk. I'm stash busting too at the moment and I have enough of this lavender yarn to make it, so I thought I'd give it a go. The patterns a bit vague in places, so I've frogged parts of it a couple of times. I've only just started it, but I'm a little further on from the photo now.

Oo, and I've been teaching myself to spin with a drop spindle too. Here's my first ball. Not perfect, but I was quite please with it.

This is my second attempt. Already much better. I'm looking forward to being able to knit something with yarn that I've spun myself. The yarn I'm spinning with at the moment's not that pretty, but it was free!

I've been spending my free time with Battlestar Galactica (new) the last few weeks and I've been thinking of making a shawl inspired by Laura Roslin. I've been trying to figure out what elements of her character or story I want to link to lace patterns for the shawl. I've been looking at leaf patterns for chamalla (extract) and trying to think of something for Pythia (prophecies of.) Anybody else have any ideas?

I am Chrissie and I have chosen Kaylee from Firefly as my moniker. Right now I am knitting a top down raglan for my husband in a bamboo yarn called "serendipity" that I THOUGHT was called "serenity," and although the colorway is not serene at all, the yellows, oranges, reds, purples and navy actually combine the colours of a nebula. How hot is that? Since I am knitting it circularly it sort of spirals around the sweater too. Will post a picture when I am done. DH is away right now and I am really missing him, so I am watching the Firefly DVDs and drinking coffee while working on this sweater.

I knitted my friend, MrsDrWho, some Blake's 7 socks. I knitted the logo into the leg of one, and B7 into the other. They are in relief and almost impossible to see, but she likes wearing them knowing the socks' secret!!!

Space Invaders Earflap Hat

So I know its a winter hat... I made this a couple of months back and just didnt get round to posting so it's late but still cool. It's sized for a mans head, whatever that means. Let me know if you have any issues with the pattern. The charts may not be exactly the same as the hat because I can never resist a couple of alterations as I knit.. Anyway, the instructions.

SPACE INVADERS HAT

This hat is knit in the round from the top down.

Gauge – 4.5sts per inch in aran weight yarn (check you get this gauge working fairisle!)

I used – Rowan Magpie Aran in dark green and pale blue, on 4.5mm circulars. Sized to fit up to a 24” mans head.

WORKING IN THE ROUND:

1. In dark coloured yarn, Cast on 8 stitches. Mark each stitch.

2. Increase into each marked stitch. 16sts

3. Repeat the previous row, increasing into each marked stitch, six more times. 64 sts

4. Knit one round plain. Remove every other marker so that only four markers remain.

5. Increase into each marked stitch. 68sts

6. Knit round.

7. Repeat rows 5 and 6 ten more times, removing the markers on the last round (except the one that marks beginning of round). 108sts.

8. Work pattern Chart 1 repeats – there should be nine repeats to fit round the whole head. Use the dark coloured yarn for the background and the light coloured yarn for the characters. Remember you are working from the top down so start the chart at the bottom as usual and don’t be put off that youre knitting the characters upside down.

9. Knit four more rounds in the dark coloured yarn..

10. The hat should now be approximately 9” long. Check it fits and add another row or two if you want it longer.

11. When you are satisfied that the hat is the right length (about eyebrow height), it’s time to split for the earflaps. Knit 11, purl 37, knit 23, purl 25, knit 12. This will stop the front and back of the hat from curling up and create a nice edge.

12. On the next row, knit 11, cast off the purl stitches, knit 23, cast off purl stitches, knit 23. You now have two earflaps, ready to be worked back and forth. To start, you will need to purl one row on the left earflap in order for it to be the same length as the right.

13. EARFLAPS: Work back and forth in stockinette stitch. On all rows slip first stitch knitwise, knit second stitch, and knit last two stitches. This should give you a sturdy edge that won’t curl. Follow the pattern in chart two in the way you prefer, using duplicate stitch, intarsia, or fairisle.

14. When you reach the last row of the pattern, you need to start decreasing the earflaps. On each knit row, knit2tog twice at beginning and end of row. On purl rows, continue to slip first stitch knitwise, knit second stitch, and knit last two stitches.

15. When you have 13 stitches left, cast off. Close up the little hole at the very top of the hat and weave in all ends.

Im sorry Ive not been updating more. Feel free to give me a kick at my email if I'm too quiet!

It's an excellent idea to talk more about our characters. I chose Holly from Red Dwarf whos an iq challenged computer. I chose her because I couldnt decide between Ripley and Sarah Conner and thought, sod it, i'll go with Holly instead cos I'm a big Dwarf fan and she's a Brit :D

I havent cast on for the space invaders socks but I did make a Space Invaders earflaps hat, top down. I wrote up the pattern to put here but never got round to taking photos.. It needs a good wash now and Im not sure whether anyone will want to make a wooly hat what with the summer on its way but I will get it up here asap!

Reading lately, but no knitting

Hi all,

My character of choice is the Man Machine from the 1927 movie Metropolis. (between Buffy and Captain Kirk) Even though she is called the Man machine, she is built quite female. It's a good book and a great movie, taking on social, environmental and political issues. You can sometimes find it playing on Turner Classic Movies. Fritz Lang was the director. He was incredible.
The machine is made to take the place of a influential female. Then the machine influences them in bad ways.
Why are there so few good female robots out there?

I recently finished reading "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card. I'd heard about this one for a long time, but never got around to reading it. My new brother-in-law is a fantasy and scifi reader also and this was his Christmas present to me (I gave him the Gormenghast trilogy by Mervyn Peake). It's been nice having someone in the family with whom I can discuss this genre of books.
It's a good story. If you haven't yet read it, you should. The idea that Card started with for the story was wondering how humans would train soldiers in the future.
Doesn't inspire me to any knits, though. ;)

Ok, that's me (4th from the bottom, between the Ewok and Scully). I'm dressed as Pris from Blade Runner.

Pris was the replicant played by an extremely limber (and quite young) Daryl Hannah who is the next to last replicant to be killed by Deckard (Harrison Ford). She dies right before the insane fight between Deckard and replicant Roy (Rutger Hauer). I loved her child-like wonder at everything (J.F. Sebastian's animatronic toys, for example), and was completely fascinated by the scene where she sprays on her black eye make-up...hence, my Pris get-up in the photo.

Blade Runner remains one of my favorite sci-fi flicks of all time...

Animal replicants (animoids) were developed first for use as pets and beasts of burden after most real animals became extinct. Later, humanoid replicants were created for military purposes and for the exploration and colonization of space. Well as Zeeppo pointed out we've all been pretty quiet lately so I thought I'd get the ball rolling again. First, has anyone cast-on for these yet?

Secondly, does anyone else feel like they don't know enough about the characters in the sidebar? I know we each picked a character to represent ourselves (which is a fantastic idea BTW) but I have to admit I don't know who most of them are and I wish I did. I don't know if it's even possible, but maybe each pic could have the characters name under it so we can look them up. Like my picture is Scully and she's from the X-Files (I know, we all know who Scully is but I'm just clarifying here). I very well may be alone in my not-knowingness but I thought it wouldn't hurt to tell a little more about the people who we each chose. Just a thought.

This is me cranking on The Marley. For those just tuning in I run a Clown Brigade {Clown Troop}. One of our routines was make a very long scarf {over 100 feet long}. Next years long scarf has been named for Bob Marley and will be made from Icrod knit on this gizmo. It is a brave experiment to go where no has wanted to go before.

Yep, I got Icelandic sheep for Christmas! The white one is Thorn (for Thurisaz, and also the name of the head vampire's dog in The Lost Boys) and the moorit grey one is Tyr.

Hi and besides wishing all of you a happy holidays and a wonderful new year, coming out of lurkdom today to introduce self. Dragonsinger here (points to Maharet icon on sidebar). I have enjoyed the posts and the photos posted since I've found this blog and love the ideas they generate. My sci fi leanings are toward Star Trek since I grew up with that :D and into the fantasy area of Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern Series, her Rowan Series, and Anne Rice Vampire and Witches Chronicles. Also very much a fan of Harry Potter.

Having made a Molly Weasley sweater for myself, currently working on one for a friend now.

Well, Glad to be a part of the KAL and looking forward to getting to know everyone better.

I checked in to apologize for not posting or commenting in a while but realized that we all must be busy doing holiday knitting. I actually had gotten about 5 or 6 inches of the alien illusion scarf done as a Christmas gift for my brother but I became hopelessly side-tracked. I'm thinking it may have to be a Valentines Day or Easter gift at this rate :-)

A Long Scarf

Just a note for fan's of Dr. Who's Wardrobe Circa Tom Baker. My clown troop has started knitting a long scarf. It will be a braided scarf and at least 90 feet long.

The neat thing about the design is that up to three people can be knitting it at one time.

Well old Tom probably would have gotten himself killed by a Dalek or something if he wore one of these. Still, it is neat and needed to be mentioned.

Yes, a bit unbelievable I know!!! But I am making my friend, MrsDrWho, some socks with the Blake's 7 logo knitted onto the front. I was inspired by the Bajoran socks!! I am using wool she chose from The Knittery, which is beautifully soft and fine and lovely to knit. I made the pattern for the logo here, by uploading a picture of the Blake's 7 logo. I am about to start the logo on the second sock today!!!

Robot Illusion Scarf started

Finally got out of town to return that damaged yarn and got started on the Robot Illusion Scarf for my son. Finished the first robot chart! I'm going to do it a little different from the pattern. He wants "I" and a robot on each side, nothing in the middle. I will probably shorten it some and may make it narrower where it goes around his neck because this is a pretty big scarf for a kid. His birthday was last week and we got him Robo Rally and have been having a lot of fun playing that. Now I have to paint the 8 tiny robots that comes with it.

By the way, our comments are being spammed by Askinstoo. Can they be blocked or blacklisted?

While out of town this weekend, I bought yarn at Michael's to make the Robot Illusion scarf for dear son, who wants it yesterday if not sooner. Today, I printed out the pattern, got out my yarn and needles, all ready to start. There were 2 yarn ends coming from the ball, but neither of them would pull from the center. I took the ball band off, and there were 4 yarn ends hanging there. Apparently, someone used this yarn, wrapped some of the cut yarn back around the ball and took it back to the store. And I got stuck with it. It will probably be 2 weeks before I can get back there to take it back. I thought about just winding off the cut part and hoping there would be enough left in the rest, but this yarn already has less yardage than what the scarf called for, so I'm really afraid I would run out before it was finished. Since the 2 colors are carried up the side of the scarf, I really don't want to join more yarn in the middle of the scarf. I haven't told DS yet. I just want to put the word out to whoever cut the yarn up and then returned it, you have officially ruined my day. :P

EDIT: I can forget trying to use it. I started unwinding and found 2 more ends. It has been cut several times. Ugh.

Top Secret Debbie Stroller Project - A Message to the Little Cry Baby Klingon Who Can't Sing

This is the swatches for the project I will be submitting to Debbie Stroller. It will be super manly. I will even be having a contest around it on my blog next week.

A while ago I suggest that a tone deaf Klingon trying to sing "Bad to the Bone" was not very good. Since then a unnamed Klingon fan called me something in Klingon Language, well if you can call those grunts a language.

First things first we have ways of dealing with Klingons over at Zeeppo's Knitting Blog. It is called a very large Phaser. Name me one Klingon that has a record albumn. They don't because they can't sing. Captain Kirk, Spock, Scotty all have records. Kirk even has two although I am not sure why.

Have you ever noticed that you only see Klingon's singing when they are drinking? That is because they are so bad at it that they must be half in the bag before they can listen to each other singing.

So to wrap things up Kingons hit yourself with a pain stick where the sun doesn't shine. We clowns are not afraid to take you out. Heck I have personally gone up against mimes that are tougher than the average Klingon. And by the way someone is selling the plans to your ships in the news paper. Really have you guys never hear of the term "State Secret". Don't make me come over there and be funny on you {And that is funny Ha Ha}.

Bajoran Cable Socks

I've finished my Bajoran inspired socks! Here is a scanned in image of the cable emblem that I made up for the back of the socks.
I have written up the pattern for the cable emblem. You can find it on my blog. Just know that only I have worked it, and double-checked the pattern, so there could be some mistakes in there. I also have never really done a cable pattern before, so I don't really think I used the proper cabling lingo, but i think I get my point across.
The socks as a whole look a bit like this:
The picture is dark, I know, but you should have seen when I tried to take the picture myself during the day! 7 month pregnant woman trying to do a modified back bend while aiming and shooting a camera. Should have been a Marx Brothers skit.

My Alien Illusion Scarf has become two scarves in one. I began running low on the green yarn (plus it was scratchy), so I decided I'd rather have the black (and softer) yarn around my neck anyway...hence, two-scarves-in-one.

As you can see, it switches to the previously-posted alien spaceship pattern--ships which of course cannot be seen above because they are currently cloaked.

Ships are barely visible in stealth mode.
I also worked up a chart today of Ignignokt from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Stay tuned.

Knit an Alien Armada

I wanted to put some spaceships on my Alien Illusion Scarf, so my spouse sketched up a little alien craft and I came up with this chart.

It's designed for the 40-stitch scarf width, with the little ships running the length of the scarf (after the Alien pattern ends, that is). The grey squares are optional purl stitches in keeping with the illusion pattern of knit 3 rows, purl 1 row, and kind of look like some weird landscape for the spaceships to fly over.

Well, it's the first chart I've ever posted, so I'd love to know what you guys think. General consensus is that such spaceships were good enough for Atari, so they should work for this, and so far I like them in my scarf. Take them places no one has gone before!

Even though I made this when I first joined up with this group, I have just never posted a picture of it. I took it out and tried getting a good pic of it, but again, it is a grey day so lighting is not great.
Just wanted to share a completed item. I'm still working on my Bajoran Emblem socks, though they have taken a backseat to the monsters I am creating for Halloween. I'll try to get a good picture of the socks so far if we get a sunny day any time soon.

Here's a free pattern for crocheted severed fingers--it's not exactly sci-fi, but very CSI, and nice and creepy and halloweeny. I myself have only recently learned to crochet, so I can't say I've made any severed digits yet.

Hello again. I just wanted to welcome Obsidian to the Blog. I suppose this is not a very welcoming picture. Still, It took thirty years to kill off Jim Kirk and it was because he was armed to the teeth. Unlike some synthetic life forms that did not even survive their first movie. He survived Ricardo Montalban. There is simply nothing more evil then Ricardo Montalban and Kirk survived him twice on TV and the big screen. Not to mention at leaset a couple books.

Any who since you pictured yourself dressed up this was me in my Dalek suit. No one told me you are supposed to go in feet first. I was stuck in that bloody thing for three days. And I pretty sure my wife new after the second hour. And when she finally did tip the thing over because the pickle jar was stuck.

Order of the Obsidian Kitten

Well, actually, I'm really just a New York City girl who grew up in the Southern United States but somehow landed on a 20-acre farm in the middle of the Michigan mitten (by way of NYC).

So now I blog a lot...mostly about my strange new life on the farm, knitting and spinning and raising the assortment of odd creatures that I live with. They aren't aliens, but many of them look as if they could be, like llamas and chickens.

I also cohabitate with four cats (if you are also owned by cats, you too may suspect that they are actually mind-controlling aliens) and with my spouse, who can recite all the Star Wars films' dialogue while listening only to the soundtracks. I find this quite remarkable, and it is only one of the reasons I married him.

I'm still a bit discombobulated by this evening's Battlestar Gallactica season premiere, so must collect myself and post more later, but I wanted to hop aboard and say hello. I'm honored you would have me! (And hi Glaistig and Zeeppo! It's all their fault I found you...)

Old Sci Fi on Sunday

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to let you know that Sunday night Turner Classic Movies is showing some great old scifis. At 8:15 they are showing "How the Earth Stood Still". This really is a great one, and it's message is still applicable for today. Then comes "It Came from Outer Space". I haven't yet seen this but look forward to checking it out.
But the real reason I'm posting is because they are showing the first science fiction movie ever at 11:45 that night. It's only 12 minutes long and is a silent from 1902, "Trip to the Moon". I've often seen little clips from this, but never had the chance to see the whole film. I'm quite excited about it! The clips I've seen are a bit cheesy, but I'm impressed with the effects they used so early in film-making history.
(later on that night, at 2am for their import feature, they are showing "X from Outer Space", a Japanese movie from1967. The description is "A giant chicken from outer space lays waste to the Japanese countryside."

I've been mulling over the possibility of knitting a huge Kitty Pi bed, with a removable top part, that looks like a Flying Saucer.

Right now, I figure I can I knit two (2) halves. I don't know whether I would have to just block appropriately to create shaping OR knit the shaping or both. I'm thinking I could probably cut out the doorway after felting.

My two cats don't need another bed. But they demand one. . . .

A very good friend of mine is going to become a dad very soon! I made him a Jayne Hat for his birthday last year, and I think I'm going to make a baby Jayne hat for his daughter. BUT -- I'm interested in other ideas folks might have to more appropriately assure that this child will grow up to be the awesome geek her dad is.

Sorry I just couldn't help it. Usually when ever I was picked to play a game when you had to pick a character all the good ones were taken. I supposed there is an advantage to being male.

Although I tend to wear more clothing than Captain Kirk. He always did find a way to loose his shirt. I had seriously considered Dr. Who. But which one, I could not decide and until recently there was only one Captain Kirk so that made that easier.

Anyway I learned to knit in the Circus. Yes, I did say Circus I am a Master Clown by training and am currently teaching a new group of clowns for a Troop we are starting here in Pittsburgh, hence the Clown name, Zeeppo.

I have been fascinated with Science Fiction since grade school. I even wrote a story about a star ship named after my favorite Air Craft Carrier CVN 65 U.S.S. Enterprice. Well someone told me about Star Trek then.

As well as knitting too much I am writting about about a Mecry Ship that will probably be finished in the spring sometime.

And for the Dr. Who fans I do have a rather long scarf. This little guy is 90 feet long and weighs just over 5 pounds. It is made From Red Heart Acrylic.

Working on an idea

Alright, I don't know if I'm going to keep on with this idea or not, but I thought I'd share it, as you all are about the only people who might understand.
I've begun knitting a pair of socks in the colorway at the top of the picture. Once I started them, the color scheme really reminded me of Kira from Deep Space Nine. So I began to ponder how I could translate that into the sock. I found the Bajoran emblem, and decided to see if I could make it work with cables and a bobble. So the orange at the right is my experiment with it.
I can't decide if I should use it or not.
Thought I would share though.

I got my yellow 4ply!! I've been watching pure wool 4ply in various yellow shades for ages, yellow is so rare! And a few have come and gone, bidding went too high for me. But I just "won" myself 300g of pure alpaca 4ply in golden yellow - it's totally perfect! I can't wait till it arrives, I can finish my Jayne hat! YES!

It's been the fortieth anniversary of Star Trek this week so I've been watching quite a bit of it. They've been showing all the movies, in order, today's is on behind me right now, it's Generations. We all have a favorite I know, I'd be interested in yours. I like the Wrath of Khan, because it's the first one I saw when I was very young and It still gives me a chill watching them put those helmets on - I hate woodlice and I'm sure it can be traced to WOK! And I also like The Journey Home, because I was still a kid when I saw it and it is probably the funniest (and cheesiest!) of them all.

I know there are later movies, the Next Gen ones, that are better technically and take themselves more seriously, but I adore Kirk and his crew. Their movies are probably the best buddy movies of all time, not least because you really see them growing older together. Have you all seen Trekkies? That's one of the funniest and most touching movies I've seen in the last year.

I watched Queen of the Damned last night, on Glaistig's recommendation. I really enjoyed it, although not as much as I enjoyed Interview. I didn't realise till it started that it was based on the book, Doh! I have read it, some time ago.

Also in the past couple of weeks I have seen Alien Autopsy (the Ant and Dec movie) which was really good, funny. Also a couple of time travel movies - Primer (I was knitting so I didn't really get what was happening - need to watch this again), and A Sound Of Thunder, which I did quite like - it's one of those movies where you can't question anything or it would all fall apart, but there were decent scary monsters and some interesting ideas.

A Sound Of Thunder is set in the future and a company is running expensive hunting tours in the past. Any tiny difference could completely change the course of history, so the set up is thatthe rich execs will shoot a dino seconds before it would otherwise have died naturally. On one of these trips something very minor is changed, and later that day back in the 'real time' a 'time wave' hits and loads of stuff is changed. There are several more 'time waves' and each one completely changes the landscape. The cast has to find out what went wrong and change it back in order to Save The Earth.

I also watched Run Lola run again, which is just such a brilliant movie. Oh, and X-Men 3. Which was better than Superman but that's not saying much. The women's roles in this trilogy really wound me up.

Storm - She is such a strong character in the comics but the film scripts reduce her to looking pretty and not much else. X-Men 3 could have really been her movie, well her and Jean Grey's. Instead even though she is supposedly in charge, Logan still gives all the orders. In her position i would have told him to shut the hell up and get behind me.

Jean Grey - As another major character it was irritating to see her in the background all the time. Lot's of standing around with her hair billowing but very little dialogue, another wasted opportunity.

I would have cut out all the pointless dialogue between government humans and developed these two characters more. Storm should have been leading the X-Men and Phoenix should be standing in front of Magneto and his "Brotherhood". It would have been really interesting to see it done this way, especially given that the two are old (and best?) friends.

And: Rogue. I adore Rogue in the comics. She is such a complex character. Her role in the movies was to be a mixed up kid who (again) stands around looking pretty until she is needed for a plot point. Where are all her powers?? Rogue can fly in the comics. AND even in the movies she has taken some of Wolverine's powers and some of Magnetos, she should be a force to be reckoned with, a real weapon on either side.

So - I just wanted to remind everyone that you can talk sci fi here as well as knitting, I positively encourage sharing your thoughts and reviews. :)
